Covid-19 Updates

Parents, volunteers, and friends:

No doubt you have concerns about coronavirus (COVID-19) and the news reports regarding its spread. We wanted to take this opportunity to assure you that we are monitoring the situation closely, because the safety and well-being of our campers, volunteers, and medical staff remain our top priority.

Our medical director and her team are staying current with information, reports, and recommendations coming from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), Children’s Hospital, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and federal/state agencies.

For now, we continue to make plans for another fun year at Camp CoHoLo in July 2021 (camp dates are July 18-21 for first session and July 21-25 for second session).

We will ensure that appropriate steps are taken for good medical safeguards at camp. And we will let you know if the virus or any other factor requires us to make changes to camp, including if we should have to postpone camp for 2021. We remain hopeful that such a drastic decision will not be necessary. Unfortunately, due to Covid there will be NO Winter Carnival this year.

Please know, however, that we will not hesitate to postpone camp if we feel holding it puts any of our campers, volunteers, or medical staff at undue risk.

Of course, we also understand that each of you needs to make independent decisions that you feel are in your family’s best interests, and we encourage you to do so.

Please seek advice from your family’s medical provider(s); we intend to do the same, relying on the guidance and recommendations of our medical staff. If you have any questions about camp, please let us know. We also ask that, as camp approaches, if anyone in your family has traveled recently to one of the areas in emergency status as a result of the virus, or if anyone in your family has been exposed or shows any symptoms, then please let us know immediately and please do not attend camp this year.

We look forward to having another great year at Camp CoHoLo, and if anything changes our plans for camp this year, we will let you know. In the meantime, we wish everyone good health and happiness!
